ILEA Rhode Island proudly congratulates longtime member, past chapter president, and industry leader Alexis Gorriarán, CSEP, on his appointment as Executive Director of the Providence Tourism Council.

A respected force in Rhode Island’s hospitality, tourism, and live events community, Gorriarán brings more than two decades of experience in destination marketing, experiential programming, and civic engagement to the role. His leadership has helped shape many of Providence’s signature public experiences, including Illuminate PVD, the PVD Holiday Market & Festival, and the city’s New Year’s Eve celebrations.

As Executive Director, he will serve as the organization’s chief strategist and ambassador, overseeing strategic planning, operations, marketing, partnerships, and program execution to drive visitation, year-round economic activity, and Providence’s continued growth as a leading cultural destination. He will lead efforts to expand Providence Tourism Council’s signature events, strengthen stakeholder relationships across the public and private sectors, and enhance Providence’s visibility on a regional, national, and global scale.

His appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Providence, as the city builds momentum around major milestones including America250 and the FIFA World Cup 2026—creating new opportunities to showcase its culture, creativity, and global appeal.
